Parker's Party!!
Sunday, Matthew and I celebrated Parker Pate's very first birthday with her and her family at Kiesel Park in Auburn. Her mom, Anna, is a great friend of mine from college. We graduated together in graphic design and since we both decided to stay in Auburn, we've remained close. I actually made Parker's crib bedding, which I'll try to blog about one day...but, these days, I'm excited because Anna gas decided to learn the sewing basics herself!
Over the past few weeks, Anna's been at the house for our weekly Sip-n-Sews, working hard on this little Corey bubble for Parker's party outfit! Not only did she conquer her very first sewing project for a grand debut, but she also learned to smock from her very own smocking design! That cupcake is impressive! She's so ambitious...good thing she's also talented!
After everyone enjoyed Ralph's fabulous burgers...Parker enjoyed her birthday cake! I think she liked it...actually, she loved it!! And, isn't that birthday crown adorable?? It was a gift from her Granny (Ralph's grandmother) and it's perfect because it also came with a #2 and #3 for more years of birthday fun!!
Towards the end of the party, Parker got to open a few gifts...so, I made sure she opened ours! I couldn't think of anything better for a baby girl than a hot pink tutu...especially since she's walking so good these days! Plus, they're so easy to make! Happy Birthday Parker!! xoxo

Taylor Wesley Whitaker
This little man was born on the morning of May 28th at Southeast Medical Center in Dothan. I can't remember his measurements, but I'll try to get that info and post it soon. We were so excited to finally meet baby Taylor, that we drove down for the weekend to visit him and his proud parents, Wesley and Hilary...our great friends from Bonifay, FL.
Hilary had a good delivery, even though she was almost a full week overdue! I don't know if I'll ever completely understand how God created our bodies for such a process! It's truly amazing!! I got a picture of her here modeling baby Taylor, of course, and one of my originals....a maternity hospital gown! The straps un-snap at the yoke band for ease and comfort when breastfeeding. I'm really glad it fit and I can't wait to make more for all of my preggo friends!!
Since we were going down to visit, I didn't want to show up empty handed. So, I quickly made some burpcloths....
...the very first with Taylor's name on them! Hilary and Wesley couldn't decide on a name over the 40 weeks....so they waited until the little guy arrived! Taylor is Hilary's maiden name, and I think it fits the first born quiet well! Especially, since he looks a lot like the both of them. He's got Wesley's nose and Hil's eyes. He's just precious!
I can't wait to spoil him rotten! We'll definitely be planning frequent trips to Florida to spend more time with them...I don't want to miss him growing up! Congratulations to The Whitaker Family!!

Mother and Child
A couple of weeks ago, I attended a hometown, baby shower in Eva, AL for a wonderful family friend, Kimberly Gorham.
Kim was in the Interior Design program at Auburn University with my sister, Audrey Walter. Since college, Kim has been a wonderful addition to the family. And because Eva is close to Huntsville, where our Mama lives...we all got together to celebrate the upcoming arrival of baby Jack!
Well, let me tell you exactly what it means for us all to "get together" at Mama's.....chaos! Not the disorderly kind, but the kind when you have so many things to share and do...but, not enough time to do it all...especially in only two days! There just isn't enough time in a weekend to use-up all of our family love! *pout*
To kick off this special weekend of chaotic family love...we were all finishing a project for Kim's shower!
I was working on a Bama Corey Bubble, pictured above with baby Jack's great-grandmother. Looks like I might be slowing creating a collegiate collection with these outfits for the SEC!! *laughing*
Audrey, was putting the final coats on a table and chair set for Jack's nursery. Doesn't it look great?? I was so impressed, but not surprised! Audrey always has so many great ideas...especially for gifts!
And, Mama (better known in the art world as Rita T. Carr) was finishing an acrylic painting titled "Mother and child". She is working towards a professional career in art and I couldn't be more proud of her! I can't wait to show-off some of her other paintings and murals!
The shower was a huge success and Kim got an abundance of great baby gear! And, we spent the rest of the weekend in the rain at the Sugarland concert on Redstone Arsenal! But, mud and all, it was so much fun! I just wish weekends like this with my family could last forever. I miss you guys terribly! xoxo
